Love and lust are all very well and good, but this meme is for when that white-hot desire tips into something darker, an all-consuming fire that licks at your every thought, that clenches around your every breath. It may be one-sided or it may be reciprocal, you may be the object or the subject or both simultaneously, but at least one of you is obsessed.

You can think of nothing but them. Your world, your heart, your very existence revolves around them.

Subject

1. Innocent yearning - They are unreachable, untouchable, or perhaps you're merely too shy. You're resigned to the certainty that they will never be yours, but you'd still dedicate your life to make them happy. Little gifts, remembering their birthday, you'll be their best friend, their Cyrano, you'll be their shoulder to cry on or maybe you'll only ever watch them from across the office and make sure that one of the morning donuts always makes it anonymously to their desk before they're all eaten.
2. Win their heart - You're going to marry them. Sure, they don't know it yet. Sure, they don't even know you exist. But you've got a plan, and you're going to use every resource in your power to win their heart. No matter what it takes. Their happiness is all important, and the best way to ensure that is to make sure they know how worthy they are of being loved.
3. Stalker - They belong to you. They may not know it, they may even disagree, but they are yours. It's okay. You're content--at least for now--to watch them from afar. To deliver notes and gifts--threats, if they dare to object to your ideas of romance, if they dare to date anyone else--to oversee their safety and even to mastermind minor adjustments in their life to ensure that everything goes... according to plan.

A. The sun in my sky - Your everyday existence may be dull and drab, but you have one glittering prize in your life. Your love, your partner, your everything. You can get through the daily grind, through the indignities of your life, because you know you're coming home to them.
B. Forbidden - You're in love and it's requited, but that doesn't make them any more accessible to you. Wealth, class, or perhaps an inconvenient marriage is keeping the two of you apart. You'll have to conduct your affair in secret, with your obsession compelling you to take greater and greater risks, until you find a way to run away together -- or until you're caught.
C. Partners in Crime - What's more romantic than a crime spree? You're partners in crime, and what a thrill that is! It certainly spices up your love life. You trust them entirely, they're the other half of you, and they're every bit as wicked as you. It feels as though you're both untouchable, and surely you are. You'll never be caught. Neither of you will ever be hurt.
D. On the Run - You're young, you're in love, and you're free, but you know it can't last. You're on the run, and your stars are crossed. Sooner or later you're going to come to a bad end, but until then you've got this hotel room, this night, this car and the open road. If anyone wants to separate you, they're going to have to catch you first.

Enchantment - A love spell can serve to create obsession where none existed before, and now you have a devoted slave, as long as the spell doesn't backfire.
An Unholy Bargain - You've sworn yourself to an angel, a devil, a cause, a country, a witch, a place, and they are the embodiment of that vow. You're sworn to them inescapably, and the terms of your bargain press you with the sweetest compulsion. It may not be real, but it's love, and it's undeniable.

Ah, reincarnation! The possibilities are as endless as the cycle of lives your characters have led. Perhaps they knew one another in a life before what you now call canon. Perhaps canon is a past life for one they're leading now. Perhaps they've lived many, many times, and are now on yet another iteration... in space.
 

The choice is yours! But if choosing is hard, here's some prompt ideas:

Relationship:

1.  Family: Siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, parents, children... The bond of blood remains strong, from life to life.
2.  Friends: The most chosen of families. Perhaps you swore once you'd be best friends for ever-- how true it is!
3.  Enemies: You have been rivals for longer than perhaps even you know. Maybe someday there will be an end to this feud... or not.
4.  Lovers: Soulmates-- or at least, romantic partners. Maybe one life was enough, or maybe you'll keep loving them 'til the end of time.
5.  It's Complicated: Friends to lovers to enemies to lovers to....... Well. You've lived many lives. People change, and relationships do too.
6. Other: A vindictive deity making you live and live again? A helpful spirit supporting you through incarnations? Something else entirely? 

Situation: 

1. Found: You've found one another yet again, in another life. How easily does it go?
2. Memory: One of you remembers... But the other doesn't. Or neither of you remember, but feel the pull. Or there's a terrible memory, rising up and making you lose all sense of when you are.
3. Coping: It's not easy, having another life (or lives) rattle around in your brain. How do you deal?
4. Repeat: Something from your past life is happening again. Can you make it go differently this time? Do you want to?
5. Denial: No, no, no. Past lives are just something for fantasies and fairytales. So why is this person so insistent they aren't?
6. Marked: For all your soulmate tattoo/scars/words AU needs. There's a mark connecting you two-- has it remained the same across lives? Have you?
7. Outside: Your family member/friend/love/etc. has a past life. You weren't a part of it-- but they've found the people who were. How does that feel?
8. Other: There's so very many reincarnation AU ideas out there! Play them out!

In nature, animals can be territorial. This makes sense; it's a cutthroat world, and you have to keep what's yours just to survive. They keep a close watch on lands, food supplies, and even sometimes mates. Pet owners can tell you that this instinct doesn't just go away - try getting that chew toy from your poodle. But what about people? Aren't we just animals, too? But for us, possessiveness is not a good social trait to have. That's understandable. Nobody likes someone so hung up on owning things. Especially not owning their lovers, since you can't simply have another person like that.

Yet even the most benign, most monkish of souls have possessive streaks at some moments when it comes to the person they're sleeping with. It's only natural. Usually, it comes from jealousy. You like having what's yours (even if it's a cruel way to think about things, that's the reptile brain peeking through), and you'd want it to stay that way. That means you want to show up the competition and remind the object of your desires that you're the apple of their eye. Of course, possessiveness doesn't always come from jealousy. Some people are just very, very...how do we say it...protective of them and theirs. How can they help that they want to show that in intimate ways?

In relationships, possessiveness throughout isn't healthy; still, a little bit of it can be actually arousing, especially in the bedroom. Today, the hotel is awakening that side of characters: the part that wants to screw their partner mercilessly to show them that they are the ones to touch them, to love them, to fuck them.

But my character isn't the possessive type, you say? Really? Really? As we've mentioned before, even the most kindhearted types feel it every once and a while. This meme never mentioned that it had to be a HUGE show of possession. It can even be a playful attempt in order to get their partner going or try a new kink in bed. Or, you could say the "influences" made them do it.

After all, there's plenty of prompts here to influence you.

HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. You also may want to include if your character is more or less likely to be the possessive or jealous party, but please note that all characters have the potential to be that in this meme. Otherwise, you'd get a lot of passive pillow queen characters to be fawned over so be mindful of that.

2. Insecurity: There's no outside source here, only self-worth issues that cause a need for possession.

The weather is getting cold and what's better for batting off that chill than a nice hot beverage in a place with comfy chairs and a barista who knows your favourite combo?

1) Customer. You spent ages choosing your drink, lining up for it and now there are no more tables. Great. As a result, you have to look for somewhere to sit while balancing that tray laden with your drink of choice and tasty pastry in your hands. Looks like you've got no other choice than to ask that person with the spare seat at their table.

2) Barista. An employee of this fine establishment, if nothing else, knows how to brew coffee. We hope. Maybe you're the best barista in the world. Or maybe you barely know how the machine works and instead make up for it by coming up with hilarious names on people's paper cups. Either way, you work here and go through the daily grind.

3) Student. It's no secret that students congregate in droves towards coffee shops for a combination of free wifi and caffeine. Whether in a group or on your own, the laptops and papers are out in full force. Whether any work is actually getting done is another question.

4) Early Morning Rush. It's first thing and you're crabby. All you want is your coffee and you will kick, punch and claw your way for that cup of black gold. And it looks like you're not the only one feeling this way. Are you going to let that person stealthily cut in front of you?!

5) Not A Coffee Person. Maybe you just want to try coffee for the first time. Or you're a tea drinker who is rethinking their views on coffee. You're canvassing for opinions, and that can range from outright asking other customers to hovering over tables to monopolizing the barista for a good 5 minutes, holding up the line.

6) Coffee Date. Asking people out to a coffee is the easiest thing in the world. Or is it? Whether it's with a friend or something more romantic, a coffee date is a good opportunity to connect with people and talk about whatever comes to mind.

7) Late Nights. The evening sky is dark and there's hardly anybody left in the coffee shop. Closing time is not for a while yet, but a stillness has settled over everyone. It's that time of night where anything can happen.

• Playful. It's all in good fun, at least to start. You're just goofing around and whoever's on the receiving end doesn't mind or even enjoys it.
