You can't find a moment of peace in a day from hell at best or, at worst, when life's burning to embers around you. You're weak, you're weary, it seems that you can't even trust yourself. For just a while, you'd like to leave that all behind. That's understandable; few wouldn't think the same. But in the face of all that thunder and bluster, there is a port in the storm. Its form? The person you're with, whether you've known them forever and a day or have only just met. They're someone here, with you, and on some level, they understand. In spite of, or because of, the peculiars, you want to forget everything for tonight. They can give that to you, and you to them.

This may or may not be love, may all be out of convenience and weakness, but in the long run, it doesn't really matter. What does it that you can pretend you both, and the comfort you're getting, are the only things in this world.
