Vampires are appealing creatures. They can be dark, mysterious, sexy, or just downright violent. They can even be hunky and sparkly in the sun! Vampires come in so many different varieties, it's hard to choose just one type. Whatever your brand of vampire, it's just hard to resist the draw of one of the oldest, most unsettling figures in horror to date. So why not try your hand at playing one yourself? All you can think about is getting vengeance.

Gen 1 - hunted prey. You're starving tonight and you're out scoping for just the right nighttime snack. 2 - newly made. You're a newly made vampire or you've encountered someone who's recently been changed. How do you deal? 3 - mind control. Some vampires have the ability to control humans' thoughts or actions and tonight is the night you have to do it. 4 - overpopulated. Vampires have taken over the world and now humans are treated like livestock or pets that you can feed off of when you feel like it. Not all vampires think this is cool though... 5 - injured. Not a lot can injure a vampire but there are those that will drain them for their blood or those that hunt them and know tricks that actually leave a mark. Do you help them? Or if you're the one injured, do you seek help? 6 - unaccepted. You were changed or you've met someone who was once dear to you and changed... you're not sure how to accept them. 7 - close call. It's too close to sunrise and you have got to find refuge with someone. 8 - player's choice. For anything that's been missed! Violent 1 - trail of bodies. Humans are nothing but food and you've gone on a spree lately. 2 - hunted. You're being hunted or you're hunting. 3 - outnumbered. A bar or a club full of vampires doesn't bode well for humans... 4 - ravenous. You've been starved or drained and you're going after the first person you see or you've stumbled across an extremely hungry vampire. 5 - entitled. You're entitled to this person's blood, whether they want to give it or not. 6 - self-defense. You have to defend yourself from those that want to hurt you. 7 - vengeance. Someone is after vengeance... 8 - player's choice. For anything that's been missed! Romantic 1 - real love. You know this is real, even if the other person is reluctant. Maybe it's not even a worry between you two and you just feel like being together. 2 - confession. It might not be the smartest idea, but you need to tell this vampire or human exactly how you feel for them. 3 - forever. It's time to make your lover into some a vampire or maybe it's time to ask your vampire lover to do it for you. 4 - making it work. There are obviously some problems, but you're going to overcome them. 5 - forbidden. Either no one can know about what you're doing or you just receive dirty looks for doing it. 6 - not exactly normal. Your attraction might not be normal or the circumstances surrounding your relationship might not be and it's time to discuss if you have a future or you're just kidding yourselves. 7 - defense. Someone hurt your lover and now they have to pay. 8 - player's choice. For anything that's been missed! Smut 1 - blood offering. There's nothing like a vampire feeding on you that gets you in the mood more. You offer them your blood in exchange for something else. 2 - coerced. Some vampires have mind control capabilities and some have blood that's like a drug that will make you crave more. 3 - no sex better than vampire sex. You're both vampires or one of you is dead set on becoming on tonight and you'll do anything to convince your lover it's time. 4 - pet. Similar to another option except that a 'pet 'entails so much more than being treated like livestock or cattle. 5 - touched the monster's heart. You're actually in love with each other even though you weren't sure it was possible. You just want to make love and show your vampire how you feel. 6 - so much stronger. The human or weaker vampire might not want it, but thankfully you're strong enough to take whatever you want from them. 7 - mine. Mostly because I'm surprised we've never had this kind of meme before. We love high school AUs. We love romance. Why not combine those into a glorious mix?

The Teach Me How to Love Meme

No matter how straightforward it may seem, the human emotion of "love," especially true, unconditional love, is complex and often hard to understand. All that forgiveness, all that dedication, all that light in the dark - how can one person have all that inside of them? You don't understand that, possibly because you're not a human. You're a calculating robot, an alien with a completely different frame of reference, or an artificially created being told only to feel certain ways. The Second Love Meme

Very little is opined about more than first love. That person will always be special for you. They'll have a place in your heart forever. And, to be fair, all that is true. You never forget your first love, the first person you shared with, the first person you opened up to. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you view life's picture, a first love is very rarely your only love. Most likely, things just won't work out. That happens. You change and you both move on, hopefully amicably. Of course, things could be...messier. You realize they don't love you the way you love them and you have to let it go for your own good. Understandable. They may break it off with with you, leaving the ashes of someone bitter and broken. Also understandable, at least on your part. The worst case, though, is first love severed by the sharp life of a short life. They were taken away from you, and unlike the other scenarios, you can never see them again. Ever, no chance encounters on the horizon. You could possibly blame yourself, and it would be easy to do so if the wound is too fresh and painful. How could this have happened? You thought you could keep them safe and you'd be together forever, despite how naive that sounds in retrospect. No matter what the case, the loss of something so dear to you must hurt like no other. You're certainly not looking for a rebound. You could have even have sworn off love. After all, who's looking to be hurt — or hurt somebody again, because you're a time bomb and everything you touch dies? You were guarding yourself, understandably. Then, they came along, and everything changed. It possibly took a little prodding, probably still is, yet you're falling in love again. Whether it's good or bad is irrelevant, because you can't stop it so easily. But, perhaps, this person's second love is your, the new "interloper," first one. You want to heal their old hurts and some of your own, too, though it's not easy. How can you when they keep turning you away? Or what if you're living in the shadow of a lost lover? You can never replace them and you don't want to, so why does it still feel that way? At any rate, you're desperate to show them that you're your own person, not someone second rate. First loves can be hard. Second loves can be even harder, no matter how sweet any rewards could be. The Merfolk Meme

The ocean is a beautiful and mysterious place. Over 95 percent of it remains unexplored. So it isn't so unbelievable that things could exist in it's depths which the world believes to be myths. The most fascinating and well-known stories of things lurking in the ocean's undiscovered depths are the merfolk. Creatures with the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish. Stories of mermaids and mermen span the globe.

Are they real?

Well, that's for you to decide.

The Prompts

(1) The Siren's Call: You're out on the ocean. Perhaps you're a pirate on a grand adventure. Perhaps you're a fisherman Perhaps you're just on vacation. You hear it on the wind. A lovely voice that seems to be calling to you. Softly lulling you. Will you answer?

(2) The Little Mermaid: You know the tale, right? A mermaid who dreams of the world above the ocean's surface. You see a prince (or princess) and fall in love. What will you do to be at their side? What will you give? Everything has a price.

(3) The Fisherman's Soul: You spot them amid the waves and instantly you are hooked! You must be with them! But they say a human cannot survive the sea with their soul intact. Do you believe this? Will you cast aside your soul for the sake of your sea-dwelling love? Or will you see another way to be with them always?

(4) Ocean Magic: You find yourself captured and set to be a side show for a traveling circus. What will you do? Try to escape? Accept your fate? Maybe you're happy to be a part of the circus!

(5) Deep Trouble: Much like the above, you've been captured. But not by a traveling circus. Scientists who wish to study you--perhaps even dissect you! Or a someone has put you up for sale to the highest bidder! In some way you have fallen into human hands and they are the ones in control of your fate! Where will you go? What will become of you?

(6) The Selkie's Tale: Well, you're not really what people think of right off the top of their heads when someone says 'mermaid'. But hey, you are what you are. A creature which lives in the form of a seal in the ocean but who can shed your skin and walk on land as a human. Just remember that if someone finds your skin, they can gain power over you! (And if they burn it you can never escape!) So hide it well! And humans beware because selkies are known to display great powers of seduction!

(7) The Merrow's Tale: Basically "The Selkie's Tale" but with what we're more accustomed to when hearing the term 'mermaids'. Rather than shedding their skin, they possess a cap which allows them to return to the sea as a mermaid.

(8) Shipwrecked and Stranded: It's a strange set of circumstances which has brought mermaid and human together. A ship has gone down during a terrible storm and left a lone passenger stranded on a deserted island. This same storm has somehow blocked a stream between the island's lake and the ocean, also stranding a mermaid or merman. As the lake is the only source of fresh water for our stranded traveler, of course the two will meet. Where will things go from there?

(9) The Thirteenth Year: You weren't always a mermaid. In fact, this whole mermaid thing is pretty new to you! You've just reached a milestone birthday (Thirteen, the transition to teenager. Sweet sixteen. Legal adult 18. Your choice really.) and suddenly you're finding scales appearing on your arms and legs at random intervals! And that's not all! You can swim super fast, talk to fish and maybe you're even starting to find yourself capable of breathing under water! Looks like you were adopted and your mom might have been a mermaid.

(10) Monster From The Deep: Maybe you're not a very nice mermaid. Maybe you're after a meal or a human soul or even just like tormenting humans. Whatever the case, this isn't going to be a happy story...

(11) Nereid: They are the sea nymphs. Daughters (and sons) of Nereus and Doris. They accompany Poseidon as he travels the ocean. Often they help lost travelers find their way and protect sailors in perilous storms. Those who treat the ocean with proper respect at least...

The Last Moments Shipping Meme

There's nothing in this world quite like a true, blue best friend that you can rely on. They've been with you through thick and thin, good and bad. You want to have fun? They're the first person you look for, because they always know how to bring the best out in you. You need a shoulder to cry on? Don't worry, they're already here.
