No matter what they were to you in life, in their death, you feel as if you have one duty to them. They left behind someone, someone they loved more than anything. This was their significant other, yet you promised your dying companion (or you discerned yourself) that you would look after them. Take care of them, maybe, but at least look after them; it's the least you can do. It will not be easy, especially not at first. The one left behind will be grieving, of course, and, so, perhaps, will you. There may be some contention, depending on the situation, and, if you did not know each other well before, some awkwardness. Still, in this time where there is nothing and no one to cling to, when the world has been thrown off its axis for them, both of you may find a sort of comfort and solace in this new routine. That will not last, either. Soon, feelings begin to change towards each other. Edges soften, people are seen in a new light. A small warmth blossoms between the two of you in this cold world. It takes root and grows, and grows, and grows... Until you're left with questions and possibly even guilt at this arrangement. How much of this is real and how much is the grieving process? Are you just a replacement for the one they lost? If the dreamers of the world could make their hopes a reality, it would be that: a love eternal. But we don't live in that kind of reality. Nobody says much about last times, though they happen just as much as first times. For this meme, characters are having their last or only time intimately. The whys aren't exactly important - it could be because of duty, circumstance, mutual agreements, an oncoming danger, or somewhere in between; what is important is the time you can spend together. THE LOOK OF LOVE SMUT MEME

You know the exact moment when it comes up in the movies or on television. The hero or heroine is looking at their companion, whom they've been around for a while now but perhaps not always been on the easiest of terms with, depending, and you can see it right in their gaze: their love. They're falling and falling hard, it's obvious from their face. They just can't keep the softness from their eyes, the fondness from playing at their lips; everyone can read that book. In the stories, this look - and the subsequent realization of the feelings that caused it - can come at any time, though usually it comes after the pair have been incredibly close or one half of the pairing is looking incredibly beautiful or handsome. You can't help it when they're just so lovable! This meme is similar, with one marked difference: instead of pure, innocent intentions as often comes in the motion pictures and television shows, this "look of love" has something carnal to it, as well, no matter how demure that may be. You don't just want to be with them forever and always, on some level, you also want to BE with them, if you know what we mean. What direction players can take with this idea is up to them. The "look" can appear during a rather perfect, romantic, or cute moment as it often does in media, or in contrast to a typical Disney-esque moment, during sex. Wouldn't it be inopportune for an expression of adoration to appear during what's supposed to be a no-strings-attached fucking session? Huh, that would be pretty embarrassing. No matter what comes first, the look or the smut, there's a few questions that bear asking. Will the character recognize their realization as a realization at all? Will their feelings be returned? Will there be a confession? What about the mood? If the other character even notices how they're being looked at, could it be something the don't want? Most importantly, there are some characters who tightly guard their expressions and, if they feel emotions, don't let them show. If they suddenly have the feelings seeping through, how will they respond to that? To be fair, it is a truly magical moment. Comment with your character, canon, and preferences. Reply to others! The LEAP THROUGH TIME Shipping Meme

You're in love. If you came to that conclusion easily or kicking and screaming, it all leads to the same point. You're head over heels, so shouldn't the rest of what you need to do be obvious? They return your feelings, check. The relationship could be wonderful, check. Why not take that final leap and commit?

There's one problem. A big one, actually, one that could throw everything into a tailspin. You're not from the same time as them, maybe not even the same world or timeline. Meeting the person you've come to care so much about has all been a fluke, as you were thrown into their lives by some kind of temporal accident and you've always intended to go back home. You still intend to find a way back.

Still, you're in love, and the consequences of your actions aren't exactly at your highest priority, or they're quickly falling from that peak. The ramifications may get even hazier if, say, you know the fate of the person you've developed feelings for, whether through personal experience or public knowledge. It would be extremely tempting to try and save them, wouldn't it? But you can't. You shouldn't.

No matter how hard you fought, how subtly or overtly you rebelled, or how many times you tried to escape, you ended up at this point all the same: you're a prisoner. Perhaps you're just a regular, run of the mill captive, perhaps a hostage, a science experience, a weapon to be used, yet, no matter what, you're not free.

But you're also not alone.

There's someone else confined along with you, who you met through your mutual imprisonment. The only thing you two may have in common is that you're both trapped here - and that's enough. The two of you grow close (it seems you're closer to them than you've ever been to anyone, but that could just be the situation); soon, something begins to start between you, tiny and delicate. You can't speak to what that something is, not in a place like this, but you know you want it to last. They are another reason to keep going.

Few fantastical creatures have captured the imaginations of those of us stuck in the mundane quite like mermaids. It's understandable: the ocean provides an endless canvas for us.
