You're not a bad person...okay, maybe you are, maybe you aren't. What you are, however, is brooding. Who can blame you? No one knows what you've been through. Or, really, they don't understand how your personality is and come up with their own decisions about you. You have no intentions on changing for anyone, especially for a world that doesn't want you.
But someone wants you.
They're everything you're not: soft, kind, gentle, and, perhaps, almost always open. They're showing interest in you, even if you don't notice it right away. For once, there's someone offering support. What's the catch? Surely they can't want to be near you. Not without a catch!
HOW TO PLAY

- Thread out anything! First meetings, comforting, scenes where the untrusting partner gets the wrong idea and thinks they've been hurt again, happy endings, not so happy endings, you name it.

Sleep. That's it, that's the meme. You're getting snug as a bug in a rug, ready for beg.
Oh, but there is a hitch. Somebody's in your bed - and, to be fair, they are invited. Probably. Whether you always sleep together (no, not that way) or this is a one off, two tucked in can pose completely different logistics than a solo snoozer. Which of you hogs the covers, because there's always a cover hog? You know it's true. But barring all that, tonight, you are sleeping together (yes, that way). It could be what you do every night; in contrast, they could just be here, so why not (?). Maybe you both ended up together and need to have sex to stay warm or survive or something equally contrived. One of you could be wearing a sexy negligee, or maybe you guys have done it in a while and need to relight the spark or make up for arguments. You could even have some kinky roleplay in mind! Doesn't matter, having sex.
And then, you'll get to cuddle up together! Right? Riiiiiiight? Well, at least all that physical activity will tire you out and you'll sleep the better for it.

From the moment we begin our lives, we're learning. It's imperative to surviving, to growing - don't walk in the shadows, it's dangerous, don't touch the fire, you'll be hurt. These days, most continue to hone this natural instinct with formal schooling, but that's certainly not the end all, be all of knowledge. If you go to school or not, if you have the opportunity or otherwise, you won't stop sharpening your mind after those formative years. That's just not the way our incredible brains work.
You, specifically, have actually decided to something equally incredible: you want to really dedicate yourself to learning a skill, and what better way than an apprenticeship? Formal or informal, you're under someone's tutelage, absorbing everything they can teach, growing closer to them in the process...
...unfortunately, though, you've gained a little something extra with that bite from the fruit of knowledge. You've fallen for your mentor.

Or, more accurately, parchment, because you've either found yourself or always been in a time (it doesn't necessarily have to be medieval) where swords - and possibly sorcery - are the weapons and the mindset of the day; at the very least, the rough and tumble attitude that comes with a knife's edge permeates the land. And you know how to wield a weapon, be it a blade, your own body, or something else entirely, so you've put it to good use. You've become a sworn sword to protect someone. It could be out of the goodness of your heart, out of heritage, or stemmed from a desire for compensation or power. No matter what the cause, however, one fact remains the same, and that's how you cannot let emotions cloud your judgement. Of course, that may be a little easier said than done. When you're so close to a person, in order to keep them safe, and when you put your very life on the line... ...ah, but you must persevere. Your duty does not allow you to falter.

You can never stay in one place for too long, be the cause your own itching feet or less than pleasant circumstances keeping you on the run. Still, more often than not, you find yourself returning to the same old places, like animals returning from winter migration. Actually, you keep coming back to one person, because you know no matter where you roam, you'll always have a place with them...and in their bed.
Absence really does make the heart grow fonder with you two, so live in this moment. Who knows when you'll have to leave yet again?

They showed you kindness, perhaps in a way you'd never seen before, perhaps in a way you can never repay. But you're trying; in exchange, you're offering your loyalty, for how much or how little that's worth. For them, you'd do anything: you'd fight, you'd protect, you'd be their right hand or their biggest advocate, if they needed it and you can offer it. As long as you get to stay by their side, it doesn't matter.
So, you certainly don't have to worry about your bond surpassing what you have now or becoming romantic, do you? That will just get in your way of being there for them. Since you've only got their best interest at heart, it won't bother you if someone else were to pursue them...
...right?
